Greetings Church Family!
2025 marks 131 years since FBC Linden was founded in 1894—what an incredible legacy of faith! Just a few weeks ago, we celebrated this milestone during our annual Homecoming service. What a joy it was! I'm especially grateful to our former pastor, Rob Mathis, and the Gibbs family for joining us and helping make the day even more meaningful.
As I reflect on that celebration, several thoughts come to mind.
First, it’s amazing to think about the generations of people who have come to know Jesus and been discipled through the ministry of our church. From the very beginning, the Gospel has changed lives here—and that work continues today! God truly is “the same yesterday, today, and forever.” And He is still at work in our community, inviting us to play a role in His great story.
Another moving part of the day was remembering those who have gone on before us. Many of you shared memories of loved ones who once worshiped, served, and led here. Their faithfulness is part of our foundation, and their legacy lives on. What a comfort it is to know, through the promises of Scripture, that we will see them again!
Homecoming was also a powerful reminder of fellowship. We were blessed by the presence of multiple pastors, old friends, and family—some who once called FBC Linden home and others who were visiting for the first time. We shared a delicious meal, but more importantly, we shared in the true fellowship that God has called His people to enjoy.
So now we ask, Where do we go from here?
The answer is: forward, in faith. Today is a new opportunity. Tomorrow is another. We continue the ministry of God’s church—not just within our walls but throughout the surrounding community. It takes all of us working together, with hearts devoted to the Lord, growing in Christ ourselves, and making Him known to others.
Our church has seen many changes over the years—and more will come. But if we continue to seek the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding or preferences, we will see Him move in powerful ways.
Let’s ask ourselves:Are we willing to do whatever it takes to please the Lord and carry His work forward at FBC Linden?
With gratitude and hope,
Pastor Jonathan Jenkins
